Default Throttle body cleaning

What is the procedure for cleaning the throttle body on the base 2.4L engine which I believe has the drive by wire? How does one get the throttle wide open? hopefully you don't need any special scan tool!

Don't know if they get that dirty with the direct fuel injection, but I am asking for future reference. Comments on this welcomed!

thanks;

With key off. Remove the plastic duct work. Use fingers an push throttle plate open an clean. Or you can remove the three 10mm bolts holding it on. One connector an remove two coolant hoses. Then clean that way. Removing it is a very easy task.

No - no -no,,, GDI throttle body is held to manifold with (4) bolts... I should know, I finished the "re-man" engine in the car we talked about previously..

BTW,, on them re-man engines,, make sure the oil pressure switch is properly mounted... mine had oil leak , and switch was maybe 1 1/2 turn from falling out.

Called assist, they said they been getting calls about the issue recently, and put me on the list of complaints.. got a case number too.
