Default Alternator replacement

So I have a 2006 Santa Fe Limited 3.5L and need to replace the alternator. I've taking off the wheel and shields and I'm dumb founded on how to get it out. Everything I've seen on the net seems to be geared towards the 2.7L.

So what am I missing???

Thanks for all the help.

Thats a pretty big job. Its packed in tight above the ac compressor an right in front of the radiator. Some people remove the ac compressor an drop it out the bottom. Others remove the radiator to get at it. At home might be easier to remove the radiator. Either way its tight an hard to get at.

Hold tight. Even with Admin1's tips a manual will help.

It really is in a bad place that didn't seem very thought out before they did it.

I have a Lexus LS also and they put the starter in the V of the engine. You have to take apart the top half of the motor to replace it. About a 8 hour job if you know what your doing and about 12-15 hours if you don't. Why these car companies don't think things through is beyond me. Really bothers me when they do this on parts that will need replacing 7 out 10 times at that 7 to 8 years and 100K or so in miles.

Thanks for all your help I'm going to look at this manual and plan my attack.

You have to remember that cars are built with the fastest production in mind...not service...

That is the hardest of the two. When I do it I remove the AC compressor then lower it down. Some people remove the radiator. The lower bold is slotted the upper isn't.
