Glove box

I was installing a cabin air filter, 'cause my Accent didn't have one, and the manual said to remove the glove box. It made me think...I've always called it that, but I've never had any gloves in it. I keep my gloves in the door pocket.

Does anyone keep their gloves in the glove box?

No, I don't keep my gloves in the glove box either. My theory is the term 'glove box' may go back to the days of open air cars like the Model T. In a car that has no windows it may have been a neccessity to have somewhere to store your gloves, etc. out of the elements.

That's just an opinion not based on fact. I haven't done any research to support that theory.

Indeed this is a very interesting topic. I'm been in an out a bunch of cars, all the time an I never see gloves in the glove box. But what I do see is, Ladies glove box--> Make up,Camera,old food rapers,Tampons,and a brand new owners manual(never been opened) Now a mans glove box--> Flash light,Owners manual that has been opened(Maintenance log filled out) and possible a empty Jack bottle. But never see gloves. I agree lets change the name!

Ouch, tampon box has multiple meanings. Maybe it should be changed to manual box? Seems like most people keep the OM there.

I can't believe men don't have a tire pressure gauge in the...box...

I personally keep random crapola in my "glove box". Usually it's tools and the owners manual. I say a good name would be "utility box".
