Exclamation Automatic Transmission Service

Instructions one how to service your automatic transmission fluid.
Please note. These instructions are not for Genesis/Coupe,Veracruz and 2010 Tucson.


1. Remove the transmission dipstick.

2. Raise vehicle to obtain an remove the transmission drain plug.(Use jack stands)
Refer to this picture.


3. You will need to remove this plug with a 15/16 wrench or socket.

4. Once the drain plug is removed allow all fluid to drain from transmission. NOTE: There is a seal on the plug,
You will need to reuse this seal. Also at this time clean the magnet on the drain plug.

5. Reinstall the drain plug in the transmission.

6. Lower car/truck (try to have on a level surface).

7. Its time to add your transmission fluid. I recommend Hyundai SP III fluid. Here is a TSB on this Click Here

8. Add your Transmission fluid an start car.
---Santa Fe add 4qts (Buy 6)
---Sonata add 3qts (buy 5), 2006 to 2010 add 4qts (buy 6)
---Accent add 3qts (buy 5)
---Elantra an Tiburon add 3qts (buy 5) 2006 to present 2qts (buy 4)
---Entourage add 4qts (buy 6)
---Azera add 4qts (buy 6)
---Tucson add 4qts (buy 6)
---XG300/350 add 4qts (buy 6)

9. Run vehicle to D,N,R,1, then back to N leave vehicle in N, pull park brake an check fluid. Refer to this TSB Click Here
You will not need a GDS that is talks of,Just allow your vehicle run for about 15 min. Once warmed up adjust fluid to hot line.

10. Test drive then check transmission level again.

SERVICE CHANGE ATF
NORMAL 105,000 miles/84 months
SEVERE 30,000 miles/30 months

SEVERE DRIVING CONDITIONS:
• Repeated short distance driving
• Extensive idling or low speed operation
• More than 50% driving in heavy city traffic during hot weather above 90°F (32°C)
• Driving in very cold weather below 0°F (-18°C)
• Towing a trailer

• Driving in mountainous areas
