I am trying to find replacement procedure for the "drive belts on the 2005 3.5 v6
I can see an adjustable idler on the belt for the power steering but cannot see how to loosen the tension on the fwd belt that drives the alternator, I have looked on line in the hyundai shop manual to no avail.

If you remove the right ft wheel an then remove plastic dust cover you can then see the engine. At this poing you can see the belts, Loosen the 14mm nut in the adjuster pulley, Then below the pulley you will see a 14mm bolt, Loosen this bolt an the belt will then loosen. Then power steering adjuster is the same way! I will attach some photos of this.

Also if you need a Shop Manual let me know I well send you one!

I was just checking things out in my car and realized that the serpentine/drive belt had some cracks in it, and I wanted to do some preventative maintenance. Are there 2 different belts I need to replace, if so which one is on the outside? I realized it is a very tight spot, I just want to be prepared before diving into this one.

Yes, you have a P/S belt,,, and an alternator-A/C belt (wider/heavier belt)

I need to replace, if so which one is on the outside?
The first belt to come off is the alt-A/C belt... look down in with light, or remove panel and have a look..

Couple sockets, an extension or 2, and a ratchet is all you need. Usually just replace them when haviing timing belt done, as no added labor, just price of parts as we have to put a belt back on anyway to finish job.
