Hi

I wonder if anyone can help.

Flatmate owns a 2001 Hyu Accent, she loves it and has done 95000kms so pretty low kms on her.

She is saying every now and then, mostly in stop/start traffic that when she goes to accelerate and the car takes about 20-30 secs to accelerate to 60kmp/h

Its happenning now as we speak as she called me. I havent checked the auto dipstick fuild levels, shes 40kms and im here.

So, what ya reckon guys, what can be the issue. Im stumped.

EDIT

Took the car out, seems as though its having a auto solenoid issue i hope. Gears changing hard sometimes and doesnt change down. When does change down its a small thump

Welcome.
Does the check engine light come on? The TCM will often tell the PCM to turn the light on.

I'll send you a manual in a minute, just keep in mind the manuals are for U.S. models. It should be pretty close.

Well took it to a mechanic

Solenoids rooted, its already the second gearbox apparently.

2nd hand gearbox + installation round $1200

New hyundai solenoids come in a kit of 6, $1000

pulse generator price unknown.

Car is going back to the dealership, hoping for a refund as its only 6 weeks since she got it. dont like our luck. might have to be a repair job and sell. She doesnt want it anymore at all.

bugger me, unbelievable.

This is AU dollars btw

Yes bad luck. Seems little high for solenoids though. Not a very common issue either.

Sorry to hear.
Hyundai makes a nice car, the trans-axle on the 2G Accents do seem to be a weak spot though. I don't know your local laws, so I don't know what(if any) warranty you may have. Let us know how things turn out.
