I have a 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe that i purchaed used from Hyundai in Fountain Valley for 11,000. It has been a great car but the timing belt broke the first year and destroyed the engine. Hyundai put in a new engine at around 37,000.
I painted it, new tires, brakes, rotors, tune up, ac recharge and new pcv,egr and mass flow. It has been running good but the last couple of days I have been getting a slight lag when I accelarate. Tonight i barely made it up a hill with 4 teens in the car, I had to pump it. All that work was around 25,000 miles so I doubt that it would be anything to do with that. I ran my code tester and it came up with zero codes and it does not display a check engine light. I changed the oil and put in techron fuel injector cleaner but still has the problem. Anybody have a clue what has going on. I would think a fuel filter but the santa fe has one that never needs testing. Walmart will clean your injectors for 20 bucks but is it coming from there. I wish it would throw a code so I could find out as I want it working good because my son will be driving to college in the fall and I want it safe for him.:help:

How's your air filter?

How about an exhaust restriction or plugged catalytic convertor? That's a severe loss of power if you're having trouble getting up hills.

Im with Rally man. Check to see if there is any abnormal heat coming off the exhaust around the engine area.
