I have a 2001 Hyundai Santa fe, 4wd, auto with 140K. On Dec 12th my wife and mother in law were returning home from a doctors' appt. They were on the interstate going about 70mph. All of sudden the transmission completely quits. They had no gears not even reverse. I drove out there and looked over the vehicle and started it. The engine runs perfect but no transmission. I checked the fluid and it looked about a inch higher then the full mark (and the engine was running when I checked.) I also heard a rattle type noise coming from the transmission. I checked all the transmission's electrical plug in and sensors. All seemed good and nothing was loose. When you put the vehicle in drive/reverse the RPM's drop a few hundred RPM's acting like it went into gear but no movement. I was told that transmissions usually gives you a sign before anything goes bad unless the fluid completely leaked out or a possible input shaft snapped. Any suggestions or anything similar happen to you :help: . Is this a easy repair or a complete transmission replacement. Thanks

Jack up the front of your truck an look very closely at the axle shafts. When you turn the wheel by hand make sure the whole axle is turning all the way up the transmission on both side. If in fact the transmission is bad it isn't a very easy task to replace on the truck.
