Hi,

Before to buy my Santa FE, I have to choose between a seat made with cloth or leather !!!

I worry about a quality of this cloth... I believe that this cloth is a bad quality !

My question is:

Does you are satisfy of this cloth (for your seat) after 2 or 3 years of use ?

Thanks

In my opinion there is a reason that the leather seats cost you more money. They are more durable and they are best when it comes to cleaning. I have children and I have had both cloth and leather seats before. The things that have been done to my leather seats would of never been able to remove on cloth ones. For example, crayons, milk, ink, etc. However in leather seats you do have to worry about heat. They get extemely hot in the summer and cold in the winter but if you do opt for the leather you may also want to check and see if they are heated. That is an option that cloth will not allow you to get.

I hope that this has helped you!

I too would go with leather! I think the leather Hyundai uses is a very nice quality leather!

I'll back up the choice for leather. Not only does it have a more supple, supportive and luxurious feel, but it holds up better over time. I also have two young kids and am thankful for the ease of wiping up spilled... everything. If you live in a cold climate you'll also appreciate not having to deal so much with the static shock you'd normally get from cloth seats. One thing to note - leather seats can get hot in the summer sun.

It's hotter than the hinges of hades here so dealers never order cars with leather if they can help it. The problem with Hyundai's cloth is that it's one flat color! Every tiny mark shows up because there is nothing to contrast. Look at other cloth seats. They are several different colors mixed in a pattern.

My gray interior is pretty dull looking. The black cloth interior of my Suzuki Grand Vitara even looks more upscale than the Santa Fe.

Use good seat covers, and you can go either way! :)

Seat covers can be a good option in some cases but I would worry about affecting the proper operation of the air bag mounted in the side bolster of the front seats in most cars today.

Excellent point! Yes - the custom covers I bought have open slots on the sides for the airbags. That is a definite requirement. Most off-the-shelf seat covers probably do not. Thanks for that important observation. :)

Very good point! I saw a few videos on this with test crash side in-pact with seat covers on the seat. Not a good move. Lets say it can be deadly!

If you buy the correct seat covers they have been made for the air bags. On my 2011 F-150 I got the Ford seat covers and they are made for the the bags. Also on my 07 Santa Fe i find i have to condition the leather rear seat more often because they squeak were they meet up. Around the arm rest and in between the 60/40 fold.
